South Florida Disaster Relief - What's Next?

These past days in South Florida have been drenching and dreadful for many families and businesses. The unfortunate flooding disasters have left many questioning where or whom I turn to for HELP.

Contact(s):

www.disasterassistance.gov/ or call toll-free 1-800-621-3362.

FEMA

1 (800) 621-FEMA (3362)

FEMA works with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to offer low-interest disaster loans to homeowners and renters in a declared major disaster area. These loans help cover disaster-caused damage or mitigation to help prevent future storm damage. You do not need to own a business to apply for a disaster loan.

As our agency continues to service South Florida businesses locally and globally, we will do our best to provide as many resources for those seeking relief from the loss of their homes, cars, offices, warehouses, etc.

In addition, here are some VERY important steps to take to prevent further disruption during the upcoming hurricane season.

Renting can seem like one more bill will be impossible to maintain but having renters insurance will give you less anxiety and a better relief knowing that you can replace anything that was lost in your home. Make sure to provide your family with the security of knowing that you are secured when disasters occur.

Car Insurance... yes you may have a paid car off and didn't need to carry full coverage anymore by Florida law. However, an incident like the one that just took place with flooding community streets and your car underwater will have you in tears because you didn't carry “Comprehensive Coverage." Therefore, your auto cannot be replaced.

State Farm. Geico, Progressive are affordable and reliable for

renters insurance on your home.

(Car) These companies are also good when you go to an affiliate partner that will be able to get you a better rate on your car insurance instead of you going straight through the website and doing it on your own. (Gem Tip)

Business Owners : Gather all images video and photos to provide to your insurance company immediately. The more data you have the easier it will be for the insurance agent to process your claim.

Cars underwater

Communities flooded and no proper drainage in some areas.
